These love birds enjoyed the photo booth at a recent wedding somewhere in Connecticut or Rhode Island (I can’t remember where).  Happy Valentines Day!

This photo-strip really speaks for itself. Obviously this was a staged joke shot – but, yes, while rare, the photo booth does occasionally function in a “boudoir photography” capacity. Usually any discussion of “photos saved to a disc” keeps things PG-13 though.

This series of photos from a wedding in Connecticut is so beautiful it should be considered a work of art. Capturing families sharing a moment in our photo booth is one of things that makes what we do meaningful. And again, if I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times: the quality of the images produced by our photobooths is the first thing guests comment on. Not only how clear they are, but how GOOD they look in them. Stay tuned for next weeks Hall of Fame strip. I’m not sure “meaningful” is the word I would use to describe it 😉

Thought it would be fun to look back at some of the best work that our clients and their guests put together in our photo booths through out the year.  Inclusion in the 2012 Hall of Fame was entirely subjective and at the whim of one judge: Me (Geoff Gordon – owner of Photobooth Planet in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts).   If you have enjoyed one of our photobooth rentals during the past year and would like to submit a photo-strip from your wedding or other event for consideration in the Photo-strip HOF, please email .jpgs to geoff@photoboothplanet.com

And so, without further ado, here is #10.  Chosen because there’s nothing like packing seven sweaty groomsmen into a confined space and taking a a few pictures for posterity.

Everyone Loves a Photo Booth – Especially Kids!

Weddings really are an inter-generational celebration – from the great grandparents down to the flower girls and the ring bearer. It is a gathering of the people in your life (of all ages) who love you. Fortunately there are many inter-generational attractions at a wedding: amazing food, crazy dancing, and of course – the photo booth. Everyone loves the photo booth, but one group of humanity ESPECIALLY loves it: kids. They just can’t wait to draw the curtain in their cozy little space, press the big, green button, make silly faces for the camera, and then, THE BEST PART – wait for the booth to magically deliver their photo-strips. At Photobooth Planet, we encourage maximum use of the photo booth rental. We want the guests to use it over and over again and most of our littlest guests do go home with quite a stack of photos. But we also know how to politely make sure everyone gets a turn and that no one (of any age) takes over the booth. Here are some of my favorite photos of children having fun with the photobooth at a few recent weddings in Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Going the Extra .5 Mile

Posted 5/09/12 in: Featured Martha’s Vineyard New Hampshire / Northern MA / Southern ME

The past month has proven to be a real lesson in running a small business. I have been at the helm of Photobooth Planet | Portland for over 2 years now, but I am still learning. Unashamedly learning.

I was contacted by the Oregon League of Conservation Voters about providing a booth for their annual ‘EcoProm’. This was one of the many events I got through our recent Groupon offering. The jobs have a slim profit margin, but in this economy, how can you be anything but grateful for the business? Well, the OLCV wanted an overlay made from their logo. This is right in my wheelhouse, so not a problem. Then, they asked if the curtain color could be changed to green. Now, green is a problem for a couple of reasons: Some digital cameras don’t like a true green very well, and tend to shift the color towards blue. Also, green can reflect onto faces and make guests look a bit seasick.

I mentioned my reservations, and the fact that we don’t have a green curtain to the event coordinator, but when she asked about using the booth without any curtain at all, I knew it was time to get creative. By purchasing a few yards of apple green fabric, we put up a panel that was pinned to the original, red curtain. The OLCV folks were overjoyed, and the pictures turned out nice too.

That’s when it occurred to me. Sometimes success is not even about going the “extra mile”, sometimes it’s even easier than we make it out to be. You can be a hero by just going an extra half-mile. It’s not that hard. And seeing a virtual who’s who of political big-wigs for the state of Oregon enjoying our booth for the evening, well, that is what you call a bonus!

Portland Mayor Sam Adams multitasks while taking shots in our booth with supporter Sherry Turk.
