Photo booth in action…

A great photo of the bride and groom taken by our friends at Unique Lapin (www.uniquelapin.com) at a recent wedding in New Rochelle, New York. Love how Sheena captured the bride and groom enjoying the photo booth in the midst of their busy reception. Believe it or not, it’s difficult to get the bride and groom into the photo booth in the midst of all the wedding festivities. Sheena did a great job capturing this moment of the two just enjoying themselves on their own. If you’re looking for a photographer, we highly recommend our friend Sheena at Unique Lapin, based in New York, New York.

Here’s an email we received today from a bride who rented our VW Photobooth Bus “Ruby”…
“I just want to say thank you so much for being a part of our wedding!! All the feedback we are getting about our event is that everyone LOVED Ruby!!
You really did such an amazing job and have given us such wonderful memories!
Thank you! Thank you!
You also inspired my stepmom who lives in Colorado to get a VW bus and convert it into a photo booth!”

Creative humor…

One of the benefits of having a vintage, authentic photo booth experience is watching the creativity of the guests emerge from behind the curtain. Love watching people think of creative ways to document their guest experience in the photo booth at weddings, like this photo strip from a recent wedding in New York.
A little photo booth history…

Came across this interesting article published in the New York Times on the history of photo booths written by John Strausbaugh. A brief summary: “Anatol Josepho, a Siberian inventor, emigrated to the US in the early 1920s and assembled a team of engineers and mechanics to build the first fully automated photo booth. He unveiled the first Photomaton in 1926 at 1659 Broadway, New York, NY and the machine was an instant hit! In April, 1927, Time magazine estimated 280,000 customers entered Josepho’s booth, paying 25 cents, waiting eight minutes to process a strip of eight separate photos.”

Apparently, there are a few of the old-fashion photo booths with the traditional chemical developing process in New York City – one at the Lakeside Lounge Bar in the East Village – another at Otto’s Shrunken Head in Alphabet City – if anyone is interested in checking it out!

Inter-generational fun!
Posted 6/26/13 in: Connecticut New Jersey New York

It’s fun to see guests from different generations experience our photo booth. At a recent wedding in New Jersey, a couple in their late 60’s reminisced about their childhood experiences in a photo booth. They then proceeded to have a blast in our photo booth! Our traditional photo booth is distinct in that it maintains the experience of the vintage photo booth, while also providing clear, sharp photo strips. Nostalgia for some of your guests, a new experience for others. It’s great to see different generations jump into the photo booth and experience the fun together.
Five in a booth…

People often ask: how many people can fit into our photo booth? It often depends on a series of factors, but we’ve seen some real creative shots over the years. This shot of our guests cramming into a photo booth is what makes us unique: we like retaining the experience of the original, vintage photo booth, even though it can get a bit cramped – but, that’s also part of the fun! Available for rental in New Jersey (NJ) and Metro New York (NYC).
