Our Vintage Photo Booth at a High School Prom

Despite all the new gimmicks and features of modern photo booths catering to the current generation of social-media savvy, smart-phone toting high schoolers, it was impressive to see how many of them enjoyed our vintage photo booth at a recent Senior High School prom.  This line stretched 25 people deep for most of the night as students waited to take their photos in our vintage photo booth at the Glastonbury Senior Prom at the Hartford Marriott Hotel located in downtown Hartford, Connecticut.  While chatting with the students, many of them have sat in various-types of photo booths for Sweet 16s, weddings, Bar-Mitvah, etc…but the response to our vintage photo booth was overwhelmingly positive.  One particular couple (located on the far right in the above photo) posed twelve times in our classic photo booth over the course of the evening.  That means, they were spending a significant portion of their night waiting on line, since the line for our classic photo booth stretched 25 people deep for most of the evening.  After their eighth time through, I asked them for feedback on our classic photo booth in comparison to others.  “We love the quality of the photo and the simple design.”  Happy to hear the next generation still appreciates the classic photo booth experience!

A Classic Wedding Photo Booth for Your Special Day

Last year at the Plaza Hotel in New York, NY, we visited the historic Plaza Hotel for a classic New York City Wedding.  This beautiful couple, along with their fun (and inebriated friends) had a wonderful time celebrating on a beautiful Fall afternoon right near Central Park.  It really felt like a storybook wedding, or at least something you would see in a movie or television show.  Beautiful high-powered Manhattan couple coming together for a classic wedding.  It also made me realize that our classic photo booth, while fun and entertaining, also fit the atmosphere of the elegant Plaza Hotel.  We designed our classic photo booth with this particular type of wedding in mind – classy, elegant, yet fun!  We recognize there are other photo booth options out there, and certainly, we are not the only vintage photo booth out there in the Metropolitan New York area.  However, what makes us distinct is our attention to detail with our photo booth in both aesthetics as well as photo quality.  For such a special occasion, why settle for a makeshift photo booth that often functions as an add-on for wedding photographers or DJ’s?  Our focus is on capturing the classic photo booth experience with an upgrade in design and photo quality.  Check out our blog to see other stories of our classic photo booth in action throughout the Metro New York area!

Hiring a Wedding Photo Booth

Top three reasons to hire a wedding photo booth for your upcoming wedding:

1) Fun, fun, fun…in addition to the great music and dancing, a wedding photo booth is a unique way to add another dimension of fun to your event.  Your guests will love posing for photos in our vintage photo booth and signing your guest book with a copy of their printed out photo strips.  At a recent wedding in New York City, one of the guests remarked after signing the guest book, “What a perfect gift for the newlyweds!”

2) Wedding favor…we’re not just about having fun, but we also recognize the importance of operating within a budget.  We understand the challenges of coordinating a beautiful and personal event within an operating budget.  Rather than devoting additional funds to a wedding favor, the photo strips from our classic photo booth are a perfect take-home for your guests.

3) A blast from the past…there’s a reason the photo booth was such a hit when it initially arrived on the scene in the mid-20th century: the automated machine, the spontaneity of the photos, and the privacy of entering a photo booth to capture a special moment.  Not to mention, in this day an age, when most photos exist on a phone in a cloud somewhere, having a physical photo strip print out in 30 seconds is a real novelty again.

We love the vintage photo booth as a unique way to celebrate your special event!

Celebrating a Sweet 16 with a Vintage Photo Booth

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to celebrate a lovely Sweet 16 with a wonderfully mature and talented young woman.  After listening to her speech thanking her family members and close friends, it made me really appreciate this rite of passage from girl to young adult.  Held at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge in Warren, NJ (http://stonehouseatstirlingridge.com), a beautiful garden is located on the premise so the ingredients are literally brought from farm-to-table!  Guests young and old loved taking photos in our vintage photo booth and filling out the guest book.  I really enjoyed watching the “uncles,” four brothers, jump into our classic photo booth and try to take a series of fun photos for their niece.  Initially hesitant to go into the photo booth, after several tries, this group ended up taking dozens of photos together.  It was pleasant to see our photo booth adding another dimension of fun to this celebration!

One of my favorite Wedding Moments in the Hudson Valley

This photo captures one of my favorite moments at an outdoor wedding at Clermont State Park up in the beautiful Hudson Valley.  Clermont State Historic Site was the Hudson River seat of New York’s politically and socially prominent Livingston Family (read more here http://nysparks.com/historic-sites/16/details.aspx).  The reason I love this photo: five brothers of the bride and the mother of the bride joining together to sing the Bob Dylan song, “Hey Mama”, at the wedding reception.  The band was great and the wedding was such a warm, loving affair.  Even though I was operating the photo booth, I still had time to play soccer with a few kids, chat with some of the guests, and eat a delicious barbeque meal!  The whole wedding felt like family, and it was such a memorable day!  Guests were in and out of the photo booth all night, and I honestly really enjoyed being there.  Not to mention, the beautiful view of the Hudson River.  It was a picture perfect day and one of the many reasons I enjoy setting up our photo booth!

Corporate Parties…the perfect place for a Photo Booth!

On a recent Thursday night in NYC, friends at The Shade Store recently invited us to celebrate the opening of their flagship store located at 225 East 59th Street in the heart of midtown Manhattan.  This showroom is stunning and a beautiful testament to the design and style of this company (www.theshadestore.com).  At the party, we had a wonderful time connecting with guests hanging around our vintage photo booth.  We especially liked watching kids and their parents jumping into our photo booth together – dressing up in costume and posing for pictures with Mom and Dad.  It was a great night overall and a really fun place to set-up our classic photo booth in NYC!

A view of Lower Manhattan, New York, from right over the Hudson River in Jersey City…Spring is here…(almost)!!

Spring is finally here and we kicked off our wedding season with a beautiful wedding at Maritime Parc in Liberty State Park.  The view was absolutely beautiful – clear blue skies and a phenomenal view of Lower Manhattan from right over the Hudson River.  Maritime Parc (www.maritimeparc.com) is a beautiful wedding venue with great light and fabulous food!  Guests loved our vintage photo booth on this beautiful Sunday afternoon wedding.  One of our favorite moments of the evening – a newborn baby and his parents jumping into our vintage photo booth with the baby smiling for each shot…it was timed so perfectly!  Of course, the bride and groom had a blast, along with their many guests – dancing, socializing, and partying! Another one of our favorite moments: a middle-aged business man attending as a guest, with a quite serious disposition, reluctantly sat in our vintage photo booth for a picture with his son.  After seeing the quality of the photo and experiencing the classic experience of the photo booth again, something happened to him.  He ended up circling back to our vintage photo booth twenty times, dragging in other reluctant guests to capture photos with him.  He ended up asking for my card, as he became a huge fan of the classic photo booth experience once again!  It was a great way to kick-off the spring season with our classic photo booth in the beautiful and historic, Liberty State Park!

“Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.” – Mark Twain (and maybe a beautiful view of the Hudson Valley)

A beautiful venue with historic ties to one of our nation’s most intriguing and talented writers, Tappan Hill Mansion is located on the former estate of Samuel Clemens, also known as Mark Twain.   This past weekend, we had a wonderful time celebrating another amazing couple with our vintage photo booth set-up in the lovely ballroom.  Amidst the great music (Hank Lane Productions) and amazing food (Abigail Kirsh Catering), one of the best parts of the evening was bumping into a former client.  Two years ago, I was hired for this former client’s wedding at another Abigail Kirsh catering venue, The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York, New York.  As the former clients came out of our vintage photo booth, they recognized me and I found out that they recommended me as a vendor to the evenings bride and groom!  It was a wonderful coincidence to see them now as guests for their friends wedding.  As the famous author once wrote, “Apparently there is nothing that cannot happen today.”  Indeed, it was another great wedding, great couple, great guests, great food, and a great party with our vintage photo booth!

At a recent event at The Rockleigh Country Club in Rockleigh, New Jersey, I had the opportunity to meet some of the amazing honored guests from The Dwight-Englewood School at their annual “Reach for the Stars” Auction Fundraiser.  Guests had the opportunity to jump into and out of our vintage photo booth over the course of the evening, while I had a chance to learn more about the school and the wonderful faculty!  I really enjoyed meeting Carole DeVito, an honored guest and retiring History teacher, along with her family and friends as they posed for photos in our vintage photo booth.  The event was filled with great music and excellent food compliments of The Rockleigh Country Club and their wonderful hospitality.  I also enjoyed meeting the various staff and the wonderful people working behind the scenes to help promote education at the Dwight-Englewood School.  I was glad to see them enjoying themselves in our vintage photo booth.  One couple remarked that they had not been in a classic photo booth since the 1950s!  They ended up taking several black and white photo strips with them home, a wonderful reminder that the classic photo booth has maintained its original charm after all these years!

Our vintage photo booth and the Oscars! Celebrating an evening with the Bergen County United Way

Recently had the opportunity to partner with the United Way in Bergen County at their Very Special Night Fashion Show on February 19th to support their initiative to provide homes to special needs individuals throughout Northern Jersey.  The night featured a simulated Oscars Ceremony with a fashion show for several of the special needs individuals connected with the United Way in Bergen County.  Held at the Westmount Country Club, guests jumped in and out of our vintage photo booth throughout the evening.  I had the privilege of chatting with some of the honored guests while attending our vintage photo booth.  Enjoyed watching each of these honored guests going on stage and grabbing an Oscar (or a statue that looked very similar to it!).  Also, had fun watching these guests taking photos together in our vintage photo booth with their Oscar awards.  It was a special evening with our photo booth!
