Photo Booth Rental NJ – The Classic Jersey Photo Booth

Posted 1/07/15 in: New Jersey New York

Looking for a photo booth rental NJ?  The Classic Jersey Shore Photo Booth has played a large role in popularizing the photo booth in New Jersey.  Last year, I met a couple that took a photo together every summer on the boardwalk at the Jersey shore in a classic photo booth.  After dating for ten years, they finally tied the knot and hired us to set-up our classic photo booth at their wedding reception.  They also showed me the history of their relationship via photo booth, as they kept every single photo strip taken over the course of their dating.  It was a real joy to be the photo booth company they chose on their wedding day.  This couple certainly did their research, and they went with our classic, vintage photo booth.

As you consider your photo booth options in New Jersey, why not consider our classic photo booth?  Our vintage photo booth maintains the charm of the original photo booth, with upgraded quality, and elegance in design.  Looking for a photo booth for your next event in New Jersey, check out our classic photo booth.

Photo Booth Rental NYC – Vintage Photo Booth versus Modern

Interested in a photo booth rental NYC?  At a recent New Year’s Eve wedding celebration at the Old Tappan Mansion in Old Tappan, New Jersey (NJ), a lovely couple approached me while waiting for their photo strips to print from the photo booth, and asked me about the difference between a vintage photo booth versus a more modern photo booth.  This couple had attended a recent wedding in NYC with a modern photo booth that had multiple LCD screens and a clear countdown for when the photo would be taken.  When I asked them about their experience in our classic, vintage photo booth, the main difference they pointed out was the countdown.  Since our traditional photo booth, designed with the old-fashion photo booth in mind, clearly did not have additional LCD screens and a countdown, I thought I would put up a blog post about it.

Spontaneous shots versus posed shots: part of the charm of the vintage photo booth is the surprise and spontaneous photos taken once the machine is started.  When the curtain closes and the button is pressed, the machine takes timed photos.  Trying to predict the timing is a large part of the charm and excitement of the original, vintage photo booth.  While the countdown is helpful for posed photos, we think it adds to the fun to have the spontaneity of the original photo booth experience.  It’s certainly different than some of the modern photo booths available in NYC and NJ that have social media capability and editing options, but we really appreciate the experience and charm of the spontaneous photos.  We’ve upgraded the internal components of our photo booth with some of the best modern equipment, but the actual experience of the vintage photo booth is what we seek to duplicate.

As we chatted about the benefits of the vintage photo booth experience, their photo strip dropped down the chute and they loved it!  They ended up going into and out of the photo booth several more times throughout the evening, remarking on the quality of the photos and the fun of anticipating when the camera would take their photo.

Interested in a photo booth rental NYC?  As you research your many photo booth options, we invite you to consider our vintage photo booth for your next event.  It’s classy, yet fun – the original photo booth experience, with the highest-quality photos.

Photo Booth Rental NJ – Classy yet Fun

Looking for a Photo Booth Rental NJ?  We know New Jersey (NJ), particularly the boardwalk along the Jersey Shore, and the classic photo booth has a long history.  At a recent wedding here in North Jersey, the bride and groom shared their long history with the vintage photo booth from their earliest days as teenagers hanging out on the Jersey Shore boardwalk (they dated since high school) to their engagement, and finally, their wedding day!  It was really an honor to be selected by this couple amongst the many different types of photo booth rental NJ companies out there.  When I asked them, what made you decided to choose us?  They replied, “we wanted a vintage photo booth, but classy!”  It was a great compliment coming from a couple that sat-in hundreds of different photo booths, and certainly looked into just as many while researching their options for their wedding.  As you consider a photo booth rental NJ, we invite you to consider the question: what is a photo booth?

Vintage versus Modern: the definition of photo booths has evolved with improvements in technology.  There are new types of photo booths coming out every few years.  In the past few months, I recently saw an inflatable photo booth, a photo booth that allows you to do all photo editing with an iPad, and a photo booth with a green screen backdrop.  All of them seemed like a lot of fun (I tested them all out, and yes, they were fun!), but when we observe the history of photo booths, we see it as being a lot simpler and basic.  There is something enjoyable about stuffing into a traditional, classic photo booth, shutting the curtain, pressing one button and waiting for the prints to drop down the chute.  After all, there’s a reason the original, vintage photo booth was such a hit in the first place!

Need a photo booth rental NYC?  We were recently hired at a lovely home for a private Holiday Party and our photo booth fit quite nicely in the corner.  Nice and snug.  Some things to consider as you explore your photo booth rental NYC options: Space and Aesthetics.

1) Space – It is no secret that for NYC and the surrounding regions, the challenge is space, space, and space.  For many photo booth rental outfits in NYC, open-air photo booths or enclosed photo booths with pipes and curtains, photo booths require a significant amount of venue space.  If you’re looking for a photo booth rental in NYC that will fit in a nice, compact space, while still providing an elegant, but fun option for your guests, we invite you to consider exploring the more traditional, classic two-seat photo booth.   We love the classic photo booth and the vintage experience of closing the curtain, taking a seat, pressing a button, and posing for photos.  The dimensions of our vintage photo booth are 6 feet in length, 3 feet in width, and 6 feet in height, and we fit nicely into NYC restaurants and intimate venues.  Our vintage photo booth is quite compact and fits nicely into the corner for your event.

2) Aesthetics – When considering a photo booth rental NYC, it is also helpful to keep in mind the decor and aesthetics of the event space.  Not all photo booths fit well into certain spaces.  In fact, some beautiful venues simply do not accommodate loud, tacky photo booths and most clients opt not to hire a photo booth rental for their wedding.  Our vintage photo booth was designed with weddings in mind, based on a minimal and clean look that blends with the decor of a wide range of venues.  From a rustic wedding at a local vineyard, to the Park Plaza Hotel, we found our clients love the design of our vintage photo booth.  The aesthetic and decor of your venue is something helpful to keep in mind as your explore photo booth rental NYC options.

Photo Booth Rental NYC – Three Things to Consider

Posted 12/09/14 in: New Jersey New York

Considering a Photo Booth Rental NYC?  Here are a few tips to consider as you move forward with a Photo Booth Rental NYC:

Guests crashing our photo booth at a recent event
Guests crashing our photo booth at a recent corporate holiday party

1) Booth Type – there are typically three types of photo booths out there – 1) open air booths with a camera and a backdrop 2) enclosed stand-in booths made with pipes and curtains 3) vintage photo booth with two-seater.  It’s helpful to decide in advance what type of booth you would like at your event based on the space available at the venue, etc…Naturally, we’re biased towards the vintage photo booth as it retains the original experience of the classic photo booth.

2) Print Quality – ask for sample photo strips and compare across the board.  This is always helpful to do before you make your decision with which photo booth company you want to hire.  It is

3) Price – fitting everything into your wedding budget is always a challenge.  A few tips: Photo booths not only provide your guests with great entertainment, but the photo strips also serve as a party favor.  You can remove party favors from the budget and just go with a great photo booth company!  In addition, several clients in the past had either friends, the wedding party, or family members chip in and pay for the photo booth services as a lovely gift to the bride and groom.  At the end of the evening, a scrapbook is compiled of all of the guests and given to the bride and groom.  Just a wonderful, tangible keepsake filled with memories from their special event.

Just three tips that may help as you consider a Photo Booth Rental NYC.

Photographer’s Wedding Booths?

Posted 12/08/14 in: New Hampshire / Northern MA / Southern ME New Jersey New York Vermont / Upstate NY

Let’s face it, the PhotoBooth craze is on! Everyone loves gathering with friends and family to take goofy, sentimental and just all out crazy photos. So, many different wedding professionals are also creating their own booths, as an “add-on”.

We, at PhotoBooth Planet, have photo booth rentals as our specialty and as our only thing, so we know how to deliver the best possible experience, with our Classic Booths and our VW Photobuses (in New England).

If a photographer is offering a booth to bundle in to a photography package, the price may seem pleasing, but will it be for you and your guests once the great day of your wedding or event arrives?

A Photographer’s PhotoBooth (unlike ours)
Consider what the photographer is setting up for you…
  • Is it enclosed? When your guests close the curtain, that’s when they let loose and have fun.
  • Does the photographer’s booth print the photostrips on the spot and do they create a guest book for you? Your guests will want the immediate gratification, and you’ll want a copy of each in a custom guest book.
  • If they print out the strips, can you see samples so you know they are quality? I know of several photographers who mean well to set up booths, but the experience and quality just isn’t there because it’s just their “add-on”.
  • How will the “booth” look in the grand scheme of what you’re hoping for in your wedding? Will it look like a studio photoshoot (ie. tripod and backdrop with lights)? Imagine it in the big picture.
  • Does the photographer have someone giving full attention to the booth, in case anything goes wrong? You don’t want any downtime while people are “in the mood”.
  • Does your photographer have photos of their photobooth that you can see? It’s crucial to know exactly what you’re getting.
  • What will your guests experience and what will they say after the wedding about their time in the photobooth? This is the most important day for you and your family, and you want them to have great memories of it.
Just some things to ask and think about…

Jessie Ware’s Photobooth Video

At Photobooth Planet, we always find that people experience emotional bonding moments in our booths, whether at weddings, parties or events. In this music video, Jessie Ware takes her song “You & I (Forever)” and uses a vintage photobooth to illustrate friends, lovers, family, etc. bonding together while taking timeless photos. Technology changes, yet relationships will be forever. Photo booths bring both together – and prints the moments on photostrips to cherish for many years to come.

From DirectLyrics.com blog post

“Here’s what Jessie’s label’s press release says: “In celebration of the themes of love and life-long companionship in the song, Jessie made an open invitation to family, friends and fans to feature in the video for the new single. People were asked to come down to the shoot in a photobooth, whether that was with friends, lovers, married couples, family, siblings – all were invited to be on film. The results are a touching montage of a moment captured in time to the backdrop of You & I (Forever)’s heartwarming message”. Aw! Very heart-warming indeed. The scenes with the huggable grandparents just broke my heart in pieces.”

Open air photo booth or enclosed?

Posted 12/02/14 in: New Jersey New York

Open air photo booth or enclosed?  In the past few months, I’ve had many people approach me asking about our photo booth services.  Often times, in the midst of the conversation, I realize that we’re visualizing two completely different photo booths.  So, I thought it would be helpful to write a blog post to help clarify the difference between an open air photo booth and an enclosed photo booth.  Just in case you find yourself throwing a party somewhere in NYC and you’re looking to hire a photo booth for your next event.  The first question you may want to ask is: open air photo booth or enclosed?

1) An open air photo booth typically has a camera set-up with an open backdrop.  The printer is located somewhere either on a table or inside a pod that houses both the camera and the printer.  I’ve seen some beautifully designed pod units recently.  Other open air photo booth set-ups simply have the printer on a table or underneath the camera itself.  Usually, the open air photo booth set-up has various backdrops.  There are some open air photo booth companies that offer green screen background, allowing the user to choose the different types of settings for their photo.  It can get a bit technical, but these photos can be quite entertaining if done well!  Most open air photo booth set-ups require a significant amount of space in the venue with limited or no privacy when you take the photo.

2) In contrast to the open air photo booth you have an enclosed photo booth.  This varies from company to company, but the enclosed photo booth set-up usually has several pipes with curtains draped around it to create a tent-like set-up.  Recently, I saw a company using an inflatable booth (sort of like a bounce house) to enclose the photo area.  For enclosed photo booths, the set-up is similar to an open air photo booth – a camera and printer in a pod with a backdrop.  There is a bit more privacy with the enclosed photo booth.  These stand-in enclosed photo booths also typically require a fair amount of venue space as well.

3) We offer a third option, which we think provides an experience similar to the original, vintage photo booths that originated in the early 20th century.  Our vintage photo booth aims to retain the authenticity of the original photo booth, in which the guest sits down on a bench, pulls the curtain and pushes a button.   Our photo booth prints the strips out from booth itself, adding the element of mystery and the joy of reaching into the machine and grabbing their prints.  Our vintage photo booth requires a space of 6 feet by 3 feet and has the versatility to fit into tight NYC restaurants or large extravagant NYC hotels.

At the end of the day,  these things are a matter of taste.  I thought writing a post clarifying some of these differences between an open air photo booth, an enclosed photo booth, or a more traditional, classic photo booth would potentially be beneficial to anyone looking to hire a photo booth for their next event in NYC.  Either way, we love photo booths and we are happy to see people enjoying them again!

Seasons, Washington Township, New Jersey – Photo Booth Fundraiser

Posted 11/18/14 in: New Jersey New York

Last night, I had the pleasure of joining various restaurants and caterers at the Taste of Bergen County event to help raise funds for the Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus, NJ.  As part of the event, we offered our vintage photo booth to guests as they wined and dined with some of the best local foods in the area and raised funds for the Medical Center.  The night started off slow (probably because of the wonderful selection of foods throughout the location), but eventually, we had people jumping in and out of our classic photo booth throughout the evening.  We also enjoyed the hospitality of Seasons Catering (http://www.seasonscatering.com) in Washington Township, NJ as they hosted the event.  We had a ton of fun helping support local businesses and the Bergen Regional Medical Center here in Bergen County, NJ with our vintage photo booth!  If you’re looking to add a fun, classy touch to your next holiday party, fundraising event, or special event, we would love to join you!
